5 simple home workouts that you can do without major equipment
When it comes to increasing and maintaining fitness, it requires a regular dedication to training and exercise. That being said, a lot of people do not have the time in their schedule to head over to the gym as much as they may need and they also might not have the money or space for a diverse set of at-home training gear. While always having access to the best equipment will have its advantages, it is not an absolute necessity to staying fit. For the times when you can’t make it to the gym, there are plenty of exercises that you can do from home that require little to no equipment.
Pushups
Bodyweight exercises can be some of the best for building and maintaining strength. Pushups are a great way to use your bodyweight to get exercise and they require no equipment at all. As part of your at-home workout routine, use some pushups as a way to build the upper body and maintain strength. It gets your chest, arms, back and shoulders all in one simple exercise that can be performed almost anywhere.
Jumping rope
A jump rope is an inexpensive piece of equipment that packs a lot of fitness value. Jumping rope is easy enough to do anywhere and it provides a great cardiovascular workout while also burning fat and conditioning the legs. What also makes it great is that a jump rope is a piece of equipment that is easy to store and it can be taken on the road when you need to travel. Any person that understands the concepts of total fitness will recognize the benefits that a person can get from a jump rope.
Squats
For building your legs and strengthening the stabilizing muscles in the trunk, there are few exercises that will provide gains like squats. Of course, the variations of barbell squats will offer the most benefits when it comes to squatting, but this exercise can work with nothing more than your bodyweight. However, you could get an inexpensive set of dumbbells to add some weight and variety to your squats. The dumbbells can be used to open up different types of squats for the exercise routine and since they are small, they can store away easily when you are not working out.
Crunches
Just like pushups, crunches can be another high-value exercise that requires no equipment. A good set of crunches will help to strengthen your abs and it can also be good for building the ability to engage the core in a coordinated manner. This exercise is a fundamental of full body fitness and it has the advantage of being something that you can do no matter where you are.
Resistance training
If you want to keep yourself on track and maintain your fitness from home, then a set of resistance bands can be one of the best pieces of equipment to have. They are relatively inexpensive, they can store and travel easily and they offer a versatile range of potential exercises. With a set of bands, you can do curls, presses, rows and more. If you ask around, you could probably find hundreds of resistance band exercises to add to your routine.
With some very minor pieces of equipment and some simple exercises, staying fit from home is no problem. Even without the light equipment that is mentioned above, you can do a lot to keep yourself in shape, but getting things like the jump rope and the resistance bands will really add some diversity to the routine and it will allow you to target different muscle groups. When you build your own home workout routine, you can stay on point even when you don’t have time to go to the gym.
